For those who are living vicariously through me, a special blog post, just for you :-) Also, to reassure you that I'm not changing too much, I'm watching Gilmore Girls while writing this.
So, today means that I officially only have 3 days of this crazzzzy intensive class left, thank goodness! I have one 15-minute presentation, 2 600-word papers and 1 exam left. Phew. I cannot put into words how happy I will be on Friday, at 12 p.m. my time...possibly earlier depending on how fast I take the exam! Britt and I have planned that we will rent bikes (there's an awesome system in place in Seville so you can rent bikes and ride them all throughout the city and return them at other places), and explore the city! Hopefully I can get some more batteries for my camera so I can take some more pictures!
All is still well at the house, very very happy!! The little ones are sick though, so that's sad. It's a very busy house here with 4 kids: Pablo - 12, Mercedes - 10, Andres - 7, Julian - 5. Yesterday was very dramatic as their nanny, Isabel, wouldn't let Andres and Julian play with their little nintendo DS thing-a-ma-jig. Andres refused to eat lunch and Julian cried for about 10 minutes. Man, I love kids. Of course their melancholy only lasted until something shiny caught their attention...not unlike myself :-) All of the kids are learning English, and they love when I tell them how to say something in English. For instance, last night at dinner Mercedes wouldn't eat her dessert, which in Spain is generally fruit, and I taught them the saying 'An apple a day keeps the Doctor away.' They were very excited. I love how easy it is to please people here, and they think I'm funny...although they're most likely just laughing at how terrible my grammar is.
Side note, dessert is fruit?!?! Who's ever heard of that? I mean, fruit and ice cream can be dessert, apple pie can be dessert, a nice peach tart or something to that effect sure, but just fruit? I had to buy a Twix today because I was starting to feel a little too healthy. Besides the excessive amount of caffiene I've been drinking I've been eating, for the most part, the direct suggestions given to us by the government...i.e. 5-6 servings of vegetables/fruits, little fat, lots of protein...I feel so un-american!! Although, they do really only have white bread here, so that's bumming me out, although it does make me miss the convenient Panera right below the D.O.J. a little less, which is nice!
This past weekend I didn't really do anything overly exciting. I went out for 'tinto de verano' with some friends on Friday, but threw in the towel pretty early that night because it was my first night in my new homestay and I didn't want to be known as 'that drunk american girl' for the whole semester. On Saturday I did a little homework, and a lot of shopping :-) these sales are literally going to kill me...and there's no WAY my bag is going to be under-weight for the way home haha! I spent the night at Britt's house on Saturday night because her parents went to visit their daughter in Madrid and they didn't want her to be alone. We had the best intention to go out, but then got tired after consuming a bottle of champagne (cava in Spanish) and a bottle of wine...woops. Anyways the night ended up with us, laying on the couch, watching the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie Billboard Dad on YouTube. And yes, I realize how embarrassing that sounds.
I'm going to go take a siesta before lunch :-)
Good luck with the snow in Wisconsin everyone and please be safe!! Oh and by the way, it's sunny and 58 degrees here today hahahahahaha just thought I'd brag a little bit!
